Home.
Not including the screened in porch.
For 6 years.
There wasn't a big discussion about me moving in with Terry. We had been together over 4 years & most of my things started ending up at his place. Eventually, I ended up at here every night. And it's worked out, even in this small space.
Our home, which we call the Cottage (on the right) was built in the late 1800s. Back then, it served as the kitchen of the main house, which we call the Big House (on the left). Terry's family lives in the Big House.

I think most of my friends & family wonder how we do it. We MUST want a bigger place, right? Sure, I won't lie. There are times that more room would be wonderful. Both of us in the kitchen can even be crowded, but we do it.
Being able to entertain more than 4 people (inside) at one time would be grand. But as soon as the weather warms up, we have folks over for a fire, to grill out, or go for a kayak or canoe paddle. We rarely spend time indoors when it's nice out. Why would we want to?

Then there are those frustrating moments when I need to get away & be alone, it's cold or raining outside and the only space to go is the bathroom.
Of course, I feel that keeps Terry & I close, connected. Since there aren't rooms to go hide out in, we work through problems more quickly & talk them out. This helps our relationship evolve.
I've grown to appreciate living in small quarters. It's kept me from owning more than I need. And really even now, there are a few things in my home I haven't touched in years. Countless boxes of "stuff" my Mom has tried to get me to take home over the years have been turned down.

Since living here is cheaper, it's enabled us to travel more often, catch live music, keep debt down, & eat health & organic foods. And let's not forget.. less space means less time to clean. ;)
